Meeting opened at 645p, Wednesday, August 17th
Those in attendance - John Bird, Chad Francis, Tom Hamilton, Ken Hughes, Dan Gargan, Dave Slocum, Marsha Sonderfan, Joe Haman, Cam Farmer, Dave Straight, Jay Burghardt.
Finances - Ken hughes showed us the books, and indicated the clubs finances look good with $4176.48 showing in the black at this time.
Website update - Chad was with us and spoke on a variety of issues. He informed us that our website is outgrowing our servers, and is looking at something called "compaction" to aid in additional storage. Jay looked at him with a blank stare have no clue if that was even a word. Jay asked how much it cost to use the servers and wondered why Chad had not asked for reimbursement. Chad informed us that he had no problem paying the relative low fees on the server himself, because that will give him a bit more freedom to use server.
Marsha commented that she had deleted some unrelated to MHDGC posts on the forum.
Joe again requested with a hopeful look toward Chad, if he could get the new membership portion of the website up and running for 2012.
Membership - Joe spoke of memberships. Currently at 344. He said we had replaced a total of 15, for a remainder of 20 left for purchase. He informed us he does not have plans to purchase anymore for this year. It was discussed that since we have been climbing each of the last few years, next year we will purchase an initial 300 memberships, which should save the club some money for purchasing in quantity. Joe also let us know that starting next month, he will be soliciting for "tag art".
Tourney updates
Johnny Roberts - Things are coming along well. The Johnny Roberts Fundraise at Deer Mountain brought in nearly $1400 dollars for the JRM. MHDGC agreed to give $500 to the event as well. Tom informed us that Phoenix Disc Sports will be the distributor of the am prizes. Vouchers will be handed out to players at awards and they will have a 1 year expiration date on them, which can be redeemed at either the store or on line at Phenix's website. Other sponsors include Flygreen and Wrightlife.
Tom announced that there will be trophies this year. He also mentioned that all holes, on both courses, will be looked at as par 3's. He announced that holes 1-3 at Johhny will be up and going and the city will have the barriers removed. He also stated that the final 9 will be back at Johnny with the Final layout still being worked out.
Special thanks out to Jim Cannon and John Seelhof and their families, for all the work and generosity towards the Johnny Roberts Memorial tournament and to the Mile High Disc Golf club in general.
Tom will be working on ways to get the cards and players out quicker between rounds.
Mile High Classic - The Brighton Boys attended our meeting to discuss the Classic coming up. They have seized control of this and spoke of many cool things. They spoke about speaking with Denver Police Department to ensure they were aware of the disc golf tourney coming to a city park. They mentioned that Park Rangers from the city will also be patrolling the area. They plan on having caddy books for the tourney with local eating establishments since this is a new part of town for some people. They acknowledged this event sold out in a day. They were working still working on signage and players package. They asked about doubles, and whether it should be held on the friday before. After lots of discussions on the subject, it was agreed NOT to hold doubles, as the difficulty in bringing out and taking back 18 baskets, as well as trying to rope off the area of play from casual park goers, for a second day.
Ace Race - Dave Slocum spoke of the Ace Race - He informed us that he would be ordering 75 players packages, and would cap the event at 90. He would orde an additional 15 if needed. He informed us that the even would again be held at Bird's nest, but for future events, might try different locations with much shorter holes.
Colorado State Championships - It was voted and agreed upon to donate $500 to the State Championships this year.
Meeting adjourned at 850p
