Financials - Ken was not present, and though he had emailed a finance sheet to the club, we decided to hold off talking about them until next month when Ken should be present.
Website Update - Chad Francis was present and spoke of the latest and greatest. He said that not many new things have been launched. He acknowledged that the password rest and lost passwords process in place are working fine. He also mentioned that the PDGA has asked him to be a part of the PDGA web team.
High Plains Challenge - John Spoke of the High Plains saying he thought it went well. Overall, he liked the format of two rounds on Saturday and one round of tee times on Sunday. There was concern of how fast the tee times were posted for the following day, as it wasn't official until the wee hours of the morning. This being an A tier, he welcomed suggestions of ways to speed this process up, so tee time can be posted within hours after Saturday's rounds, so plans for the participants can be made much earlier.
Rodnoc - Chad let the board know that the tournament went well, with all money brought in covered the money spent. Chad thanked the board for giving the Edge program a $200.00 donation from the MHDGC, in Chad's name. Chad let the board know that a check for $1,000 would be sent to EDGE. He was pleased. He also commented that the 18 hole format this year went smoothly, and was thinking of keeping it similar for next year. He also mentioned that he will try an arrange a clinci for next year to coincide with the event, to possible bring in even more interest.
Rocky Mountain Women's Disc Golf Championship - Doug gave the board a brief overall summary of the event. nothing that everyone involved agreed it was an unqualified success. He noted that no money was put out from MHDGC, and expenses were all paid for by money brought in. He also chipped in that for any new TDs out there GET INSURANCE! its cheap, and necessary. Jay asked if all Junior funds were transferred over to the event, and indeed they were. Doug also mentioned that is mind is already racing for thoughts on next years event.
Johnny Roberts Fundraiser - This will be held at Deer Mountain on Aug 6th. Registration is up for this . $825.00 has already been raised from sign ups. Tom stated that the course will be shortened so any caliber of player will be able to play the course and have a good time.
Johnny Roberts - Tom gave us the update. The registration will open up on July 25th. There will be two pools - One all Am, and one all Pro. there will be no overlapping for pools. Tom let us know that that the final nine and awards will be held at Bird's Nest this time. The "race" that happened last year at Johnny, is again happening this year. they are trying to work together to make the two groups deal with park issues as smooth as possible. Tom has been talking to Kyle at Phoenix Sports about being a sponsor and being the distributor of merchandise for the Am side. That is still being negotiated. Holes 1 and 2, which have been fenced off for many months due to reseeding, should be up and running for the tourney
One Disc Challenge - John has mentioned that he might try and run a glow round in August to raise money for the event as well.
Brighton Legacy- Cam gave us an update, saying that the sponsors and the sign ups are coming along fine, and expects another fun and successful tournament.
Mile High Classic - Again, Cam spoke up and talked about a possible temp course in Denver. He and his peeps have already been in contact with the City of Denver on a possible site, but is keeping it under wraps until he knows for sure.
State Championships - It was asked if we were planning on helping to sponsor the event with money, and it was discussed that its possible but will wait to be officially asked
Ace Race- Dave Slocum is looking to have it on Labor Day, at the new and vastly improved Interlocken course. It was suggested by many board members to make it a very short course so the winning score could be something like 10 holes in one, as opposed to 1 hole in one, like many previous years of seen. Dave will take it under consideration.
Dubois - John Bird gave the dates of Oct 9-10, and said MHDGC will host the registration.
Membership update - As of July 13th, there are 317 Current members, with a total of 375 tags that have been made. Tag matches - all rolling along. Joe mentioned that Interlocken is now doing a Tuesday tag match.
Collegiate Championships update - John Bird mentioned that the Collegiate disc golf championships is growing, and they now my be having regional qualifying tournaments because of the popularity. CSU is looking to possibly set up this even using the Fort Morgan courses.
Course Issues -
Memorial Park (Johnny) -Still having issues with players not being aware or caring if pedestrians are in vicinity. Still hoping Ranger program can be employed. It was also brought that we wish the police would simply walk through the park once in a while. We feel that would be small time consumer, but just might be enough to keep players from getting drunk out there and being stupid.
Interlocken - Joe let us know that the upgrades were finished, and all money furnished by the city had been used. All money put up front by Mile High has been returned. Also, Dan Gargan completed a sweet message board at the course as well.
Elections were mentioned that they are coming soon.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:45
