It’s time once again for the Mile High Disc Golf Club Ice Bowl, where we all throw discs in the cold so others don’t have to go hungry. All money raised and food collected will benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies. This will be our 11th year holding this event, and we have totaled over $104,000
for local charities. In fact, two out of the last three years our club, its members, and all of our supporters have raised THE MOST money in the country for our chosen charity. With over 200 clubs from around the country, that is no small feat. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever! " How?" you ask! “The last 10 years have been a blast! How can it get any better?” With the first 10 years of the Ice Bowl being held at the famed Bird’s Nest course, we are now moving the venue to ….. wait for it.. wait…..
Colorado Heights University
You heard correctly. CHU will be the location of this year’s Ice Bowl. Just like years gone by, you will be able to collect mulligans in a variety of ways to help lower your score, or perhaps give yourself a do over for that 6 foot putt you missed because your fingers were frozen. This promises to be a memorable event. Michelle and I expect this event to fill, so sign up early and don’t take a chance on being left out.All money raised goes to help put food in the mouths of the hungry! The Mulligan Equation
Here are the 4 easy ways to collect mulligans: 1) You get five mulligans just for signing up to play in the Ice Bowl; 2) If you sign up before Dec 31st, you will get an extra 5 mulligans. If you sign up after Dec 31st, but before Jan 31st, you will get an extra 3 mulligans; 3) Every Winter Warrior weekend you attend, you will get one mulligan; 4) For every $25 you collect in donations you will receive another 3 mulligans and, of course, you can purchase mulligans at the event for $5 a piece or 5 for $20. Let’s say you attend 10 winter warrior events, you are signed up by Christmas, and you hit up your family and coworkers for $100 in donations. Poof! 32 mulligans! Every $1 raised is enough to supply 4 meals for those in need!
We will also be having a raffle for everything from Ice Bowl merchandise, to discs, to toys for the kids. The cost of raffle tickets is $5 for one and $20 for 5 tickets. You will also receive one raffle ticket for each $25 in donations or 5 for each $100 in donations you bring in. You must be present to win the Raffle. The Silent Auction
As in years past, we will have several items available at a silent auction. We will “release” one item on the website every couple of weeks to see if it might draw some early interest. These items will be taken to the awards ceremony to continue the bidding process. You will be able to bid on the Mile High website (or Facebook) for some of these items. Please keep in mind, not all items will be available for early bidding during the weeks leading up to the Ice Bowl. You DO NOT have to be present to bid/win auction items that are showcased before February 8th. So, if you want that MLB authenticated and autographed photo of Todd Helton, in a beautiful matted frame, but you will be in New York on business, you can still own it by placing the winning bid in advance. (Oops!! Did I just let one of our items out of the bag?). Don’t tell anyone. Shhhhhhh!!!
The Mile High Member Challenge
We are a club of nearly 400 people up and down the Front Range. Most of us know where our next meal is coming from; many more do not. We challenge each and every one of the Mile High Disc Golf Club members to bring in at least $100. Think about it...a hundred bucks. It's that simple! We have coworkers, we have friends, we have neighbors and we have family. Please speak to them, let them know about our fight to end hunger. Many of them will be willing to donate $5, $10 or even $20 when you let them know how far their donations and generosity can go.$100 dollars in donations... It really seems pretty easy when you think about it.
