Election season is in full swing, and we at MHDGC are getting into the fun. This club would not exist if not for the all the volunteer effort that goes into running it. The more people to share in this effort, the easier it is for those who (gladly) carry this burden. Elections are coming at the end of December, so now is the time to nominate someone to be a board member of Mile High Disc Golf Club.
Being a board member requires a commitment to regularly attend meetings (approximately monthly). If you cannot make such a commitment but still want to help the club, there are many ways to volunteer. We need people to help run tournaments, seek sponsorships, and do course development and maintenance. Talk to any of the club leaders if you are interested in making occasional contributions.
There are four open board positions up for grabs this year:
four 3-year terms
Nomination forms are available online. All nominees for board positions must be current members of the club in good standing, and must have been a member for at least one year. Nominations must be signed by five current members of the club, and received by the board by December 10, 2009 5 pm . Nomination forms may be submitted to any current board member (John Bird, Tom Hamilton, Ken Hughes, Joe Haman, Dave Slocum, Max Maclay, Dan Gargan, Scott Hoffman, Marsha Sonderfan) or mailed to:
Mile High Disc Golf Club
PO BOX 701
Arvada, CO 80001
Nominations must be accepted by the nominee. The board will contact all nominees prior to opening online voting. The board may also nominate people for positions.
Thus far, Dan Gargan and Max Maclay have been nominated and accepted by the board.
We are hoping for someone to represent the women and or Jr. side of our club.
Elections will be held online if more than four members accept their nominations, with voting open from December 17 to 19. Information will be emailed to all current Mile High members for whom we have a valid email address. For those who have not voted by Dec 19, paper ballots will be available at December 19 At the annual meeting. An official members meeting will take place at the Anne Campbell room at the Arvada City Hall, and election results will be announced at the annual members meeting. More details to come about the members’ meeting.
If you have any questions, comments, or would like more information, please contact John Bird through the forums (Mr Condor) or through the contact links on the homepage.
